New for 2014 is the partnership between the WCHOA and Calloway’s Nursery. You may have noticed the link on the Watters Crossing Homepage to Calloway’s where you can find Monthly Gardening Tips along with Calloway’s Discount Coupons.
Members of the Architectural Control Committee choose winners of the Award Winning Yards. Items considered and used to determine winners include permanent landscaping, use of seasonal color, balance, use of greenery / trees, and overall general appearance. Photos of the Award Winning Yards are posted on the Watters Crossing website.
Each winner will receive a $25.00 gift card from Calloway’s Nursery and a sign will be posted in the winning yard.
This month we would like to call out a very special award to 1309 Placer Drive. Utilizing non-traditional landscaping techniques (actually, that are more in place with the Dallas summer heat) the homeowner overcame some common landscaping issues. Couple the increasing shade from a maturing tree with the very same tree battling turf for moisture and the battle will always be won by the tree. The homeowner submitted a drought tolerant landscaping plan to the ACC which was approved. Combinations of large and small rocks, decomposed granite, shade and drought tolerant plants (including native grasses), and select areas of a reduced amount of turf were executed with great results. We would like to thank the homeowner for such a great, realistic solution for their front and side yards.
The ACC thanks the many homeowners who do such an outstanding job with their property in helping to contribute to the overall appearance of Watters Crossing.
